“Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you.”
― Gayle Forman, If I Stay
Reading books has been part of my life since I learned how to read and write my first words when I was just a child. I remember going to book fair with my mother and my sister, and buying books that I could hardly read due to the vocabulary that was way too difficult for a ten-year-old child.
The first book that I remember reading is “Pequeno Coração”, written by Ricardo L. Hoffmann. I don’t remember the story very clearly, but I do remember crying and falling in love with books.
So far, some of my favourite books are:
Black Trillium, written by Marion Zimmer Bradley, Julian May and Andre Norton
Lady of the Trillium, written by Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Metamorphosis, written by Franz Kafka
Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, written by Mary Shelley
By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, written by Paulo Coelho
I’ve read them more than once, and I love them!
But which book is my number one, you may ask.
Well, I have two number one books:
If I Stay, written by Gayle Forman
Where She Went, written by Gayle Forman
Where She Went is the sequel of If I Stay and I couldn’t have imagined a better sequel.
If I Stay tells the story about 17-year-old Mia Hall. She plays cello and likes classic music. She suffers an accident with her family, and she sees herself in a coma, having an out of body experience. It also focus on the romance between her and Adam Wilde, her rockstar boyfriend.
The story is beautiful, touching, funny and sad at the same time.
Where She Went is the sequel and tells what happens with Mia and Adam. It focuses on their relationship and its’ definitely my favourite book ever. I read and reread it like five times so far, and every time I get so excited that I end up reading the whole book in one seating.
I love the plots, the characters, the thoughts, everything about these two books.
Gayle Forman is a fantastic author, and I love her books!
There is also a movie based on If I Stay, starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Jamie Blackley, and it was released in 2014. Both Chloe and Jamie are exactly how I would imagine Mia and Adam to be! They were perfect for the movie!
I actually didn’t know about the book before watching the film, and as I always say, the versions of the books are a lot better than the movies! So I decided to read the book and fell in love with it, which led me to Where She Went and as soon as I started reading it, I was a goner.
I was hoping that there would be the movie of the sequel as well, but apparently, there isn’t going to be, at least not for now. But I still have hopes! 🙂
So if you ever have the chance to read these two books, please do! And don’t forget to check out the other books written by Gayle Forman! You definitely will not regret reading them! 🙂
Which book is your favourite? Please tell me and I’ll do my best to read it! 😉
Have an amazing Thursday and see you soon!
